What I liked:
1.) Originality: This is the first time that I read a book that includes sirens, specially ones that serve the ocean by feeding Her people (If you hadn’t noticed, the ocean is a she). The ocean is also REALLY creepy because She can read the siren’s thoughts and can talk to them whenever she wants. Who thought of writing that?
2.) Characters: Each character has their own personality and you could really picture them! Kiera Cass, the author of this book describes them perfectly.
3.) Writing: I know that this is a weird standard, but her writing is gorgeous! It flows perfectly and makes you want to read for hours!
4.) Only one book: I haven’t read an individual book in a long time, I always read series. I liked that all the story ended in one book and that I didn’t felt like crying after reading it. I know it may sound weird, but it is true! There are a lot of books where a character dies and you can't stop crying, but this one has a happy ending.
What I disliked:
1.) Predictable: I loved this book, but it was really predictable. I would’ve liked that it had a plot twist or something to make it more exciting. It was obvious that Kahlen, the main character was going to end up with Akinli; If it was my book, I would’ve included another guy and make Kahlen fall in love with him. At the end, Akinli would end up with one of the other sirens and Kahlen would be so mad that she would never talk to them again.
2.) Characters: I know that I listed the characters in the “What I like” list, and I still do, but I would have liked that their stories were told completely. I feel like Kiera Cass used the siren’s memory loss as an excuse to not develop their stories.
